What are the repercussions?

Because the right to a safe environment is not constitutionally guaranteed, government ministries are able to renege on commitments to environmental protection measures like the national air quality plan, an obligation under the Clean Air Law (2008) frozen due to budgetary wrangling. It means that the hard-fought for pollution reduction measures lack teeth and our right to health is being violated.

This is an environmental injustice that affects us all!

Because the right of equal access to natural resources isn't constitutionally guaranteed, developers are able to persuade local planning boards to hand out permits to build profit-making enterprises on our beaches and in our precious desert open spaces.

This is an environmental injustice that affects us all!

Because the right to participate in public decision-making isn't constitutionally guaranteed, the Knesset is now trying to rescind the opportunities for people to object to new factories, highways and other local construction that affects their quality of life.

This is an environmental injustice that affects us all!

These are the reasons why at Adam Teva V’din we work every day to uphold Israelis' rights. We take environmental rights into consideration when we draft legislative bills, policy recommendations and when we present petitions to the courts.  We do everything we can to establish these rights through legal precedent and public policy changes.

Our Bill of Environmental Rights is the cornerstone of our mission to provide all Israelis with the very best, and pro bono, guidance and representation that our dedicated team of attorneys, scientists and urban planners can offer.
