Recycling electronic waste: Knesset approves law

Israel joins ranks of e-waste recyclers! The Knesset has approved the government's bill on recycling electronic devices. Adam Teva V'Din has campaigned for an e-waste law for the last five years. The law will help convert 'trash to treasure', reduce toxic pollution and provide new job opportunities.

Safer water at the tap: Knesset adopts new drinking water standards

The Knesset has approved updated regulations on drinking water quality standards in line with recommendations of the Admin Committee on Drinking Water Standards. All Israelis can now be assured that tap water is safe and sanitary and that its quality is being monitored on a regular basis, according to the highest standards.

Court orders government to move on Clean Air

Adam Teva V'Din and the Coalition for Public Health petitioned the High Court of Justice in February to compel the government to confirm the national air quality program as required under the Clean Air Law (2008). The High Court of Justice agrees with our argument and orders the government to present its schedule for approval by August 1, 2012.

Who wants an oil shales project?

We are waiting for our day in court when the Supreme Court sitting as the High Court of Justice will examine the validity of a license granted by the Ministry of Infrastructure to IEI to process oil shales in the Adullam Region. Touted by entrepreneurs as 'the way to Israel's energy independence', the project is meeting with strong opposition from the public and from environmentalists demonstrating this week in Jerusalem.

Time to clean up toxic sites!

The Environment Ministry has presented to the Knesset a bill providing a framework for cleaning up of contaminated soil and water at former industrial sites. The bill comes three years after Adam Teva V'Din launched the first legislative effort. Thousands of acres of toxic soil and groundwater need to be remediated before land can be used for new housing.
